Aqua- Vu DVR
DVR - Digital Video Recording

So, you come home with stories about how the big ones got away and nobody believes you. You tell them about the 18 pound northern that was staring at your Swedish Pimple and then swam away and and you get the usual, dismissive comments. Well BS to that! Now you'll have proof! This unit is similar to the Scouts with one hugely different feature. You know those little cards like the Compact Flash card and the even smaller sized units that hold a ton of pictures and data from a digital camera and seem to be getting cheaper? Well this Aqua-Vu model has one of these in it's "dashboard" right below the monitor. the controls are there as well. The card that comes with the Aqua-Vu DVR model will record about 10 minutes of video just by pushing the record button.

10 minutes is enough time to get started but if you want to be in cinematic bliss, you'll need to go online and look for a larger capacity, Secure DiskTM media cardl. A great place to find these babies cheap is at http://pricewatch.com You'll have to hit your backbutton to return here since we're not reciprocating. It's a great site.

Anyway, if you want to film longer, get a bigger card and record away. Go home, run it through your 'puter or if if you are a total tech-weenie, you can probably stick it somewhere in your DVD player and watch the whole show. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're don't qualify as a tech-weenie. Maybe you know someone who gets this stuff. It's pretty easy and I use the cards in digital cameras all the time now, but I still don't really know how to use a cell phone. So there's hope for everybody.

Here's what the DVR panel looks like:

Except for the fact that the Aqua Vu DVR is a Digital Video Recording underwater camera, It's essentially the same as the Aqua Vu Scouts.

The only details I don't like about this unit are somewhat minor. The handle is also the stand and you need to pull out the sides slightly to rotate it around from being a handle to becoming a stand. You might have to watch so it doesn't stick to the ice. Another detail is the camera direction. When you drop the camera down into the hole, you have absolutely no idea which way you are pointing. You will need to mess around with twisting the cable at the top of the hole in all the Aqua-Vu units to get set up to view and I can see where that is going to be a bit frustrating until you come to accept that that is the way it is with Aqua - Vu. Having to rotate the cable is a pain but MUCH easier when you use an Aqua Vu Ice Pod - a simple and accessoy for any single direction, underwater camera:

When I go out, I like to drill three holes. One for the camera that is placed so that it can see two holes without having to be moved. Here's a diagram:

Summary - I know how many fish are swimming around out there in the lake on which our northern minnesota resort is located. However, during the summer, our less skilled fisherpeople sometimes conclude that it's a dead sea when there's nothing biting. How wrong they are! When I get some video footage of all the huge largemouth, smallies, walleyes, northerns, sunnies and perch going by, they'll have hope. they may still not be able to catch them, but they'll know that the fish are there.

Everybody needs one of these cameras!

This unit has 100 feet of 200 lb. test cable. Order Online Right Here
