Joe's Review - I've been around and using cameras way long enough to know that this Marcum VS 380 is an absolute winner! We got them into the store and I opened and assembled a 380 and charged up the battery. When I turned it on to check out the new Sony camera inside the building the interior conditions were quite dark because it was Sunday and I didn't have the lights on in the store. I couldn't believe how clear and bright the picture was on the screen! I tried the litle dim-able LED lights and my already great picture got a little better. There was merchandise I could not make out with my eyes in the room, but I could easily see the everything on the screen! I was wondering if there was infra-red lighting built in so I moved into the shop which was just about completely dark - no windows at all. Nope- no infra-red - couldn't see a thing

The lights on this unit are super bright and set out to the sides on little wings. Looks like a little fighter jet or a manta ray. In the summer, it's designed to troll along over the gunwales. The lights, becasue of their placement and intensity, virtually eliminate the snow storm effect that you et with the particulates in the water lighting up and floating in front of the camera. Getting rid of these transluscent spots, allows you to see farther out and more clearly, especially at night. The sharper image of the Marcum CRT monitor gives you better definition of the fish. Nothing beats a super clear picture underwater. Using a camera is a total blast! Using a really good camera is a much bigger blast!
