Marcum VS560
The Epitome of Whoa!

OK- I spent the latter part of winter last season getting used to a Marcum VS460. It took about 5 minutes to learn how to use and I REALLY, REALLY loved it! I wanted to try out the VS560 but Marcum was having a slight problem with supply and we only got one in stock and it sold immediately. The VS460 is a great unit and with the 360 degree scanning in the camera, it was a LOT of fun! Heck, the second time I used it, I drilled 31 holes and moved my ice shelter 10 times. I was on the ice for almost 10 hours and even at the end of the day, I didn't want to go home - and all I was fishing for was perch. My wife sent my dad out to see if I was still OK and he ended up fishing for about 2 hours. When I finally got home, I was exhausted. I can't wait for ice this season!!!

The differences between the VS460 and the VS560 are, of course, the added features. The VS460 is a manual unit which means that you need to push buttons to make the camera look right or left. It's a basic unit. The VS560 on the other hand comes with things that sound like you could live without, but they would REALLY come in handy.

VS560 Features
This camera/monitor has one feature that I would really like to have - the direction indicator. In fact it uses the same type of direction finder that is used on ariplanes. What is really cool is that once you find the direction that the camera is pointing to and you move the monitor to face a different direction, the pointer on the screen adjusts for the monitor. No matter which way you turn the monitor, (like say you hand it off to your buddy who's facing you so you are now looking at the back of the monitor instead of the screen) the camera direction indicator moves automatically and accordingly. You can't confuse it and you won't be confused. You'll find your jig in half the time or less.

Another great feature is depth location. The VS560 will tell you the depth of the camera. This is very handy especialy if the fish are suspended. You also get the water temperature as well.

The VS560 also has a scan function which will turn the camera back and forth on its own.

The crowning glory is the remote control. You don't have to touch the unit to show any of this info, just use the remote. Sounds lazy doesn't it? It's not however. By not having to mess with the camera controls, you are able to mess with your rod and catching fish. Nothing wrong with that.

When I go out, I like to drill three holes. One for the camera that is placed so that it can see two holes without having to be moved. Here's a diagram:

Summary - While having any underwater camera is better than no underwater camera for ice fishing, this is the top-of-the-line unit. I don't have to say anymore.

This unit has 65 feet of cable. Order Online - SEASON CLEARANCE HERE!
