Color Recommendations - the general rule of thumb - Overcast days use a darker color (silver) and bright days use a brighter color (fire tiger) Big northerns seem to like flashy colors but it doesn't hurt to try a few different plugs. Vary the direction your lures are presented to the fish, say the experts on the Rapala Fishing Team. Sometimes, it can make a big difference whether the lures are moving toward or away from shore. So even if you're fishing from a boat, move in and work from near shore at times. Down Deep Husky Jerks Sometimes, the really big ones like to hang out in deep water. Snap on a Down Deep Husky Jerk and check out the depths. Order Here

Rapala's
Husky Jerk- Perfectly balanced, the Husky Jerk can be cast or trolled at any speed and still runs true. The rattle chamber transmits sound waves that amplify through the water, catching and peaking attention. And the suspending action is just more than a fish can handle.
FISHING THE HUSKY JERK This lure is very effective in seeking out lunker northerns and does well in shallower waters with lower weed cover on the bottom. Take advantage of its suspending ability by making it wait, then twitch it a little as you are slowly reeling. and cast a minimum of 3 times in the same spot with varied retrieves. The first cast the northern sees it go by, the second time his interest is peaked and the third time he attacks the invader to his territory. Make sure your drag is set properly. Northerns bite this plug sideways and seldom miss their mark. You really don't need a steel leader.
