Eskimo Quick Fish 6 - portable ice fishing shelter |
|||||||||||
| ALL 2009 model Eskimo Quick Fish 6 is coming to Red Rock in October 2009. 2009 models are red on the outside and a dark grey on the inside - Features easy-open doors on each end, velcroed-in-place, removeable windows, blackout grey coating on the inside. Comes with carry bag. Throw it on your back or drop it into a light, hand-pull sled - or a heavy snowmobile sled. Eskimo QF 6's cost a bit more than the Clam Command Post due to the removeable replaceable windows and and Eskimo's ice anchors. Eskimo anchors are the best out of all the anchors available. They have welded on washer and a long aggressive, tapered, shaft that allows you to sock down the pop-up at the grommeted tie-down loops located in all the corners and the middle of the QF 6. Here's a portable ice fishing shelter for a large group. Basically it's made by combining two Quick Fish 3's so you end up with a floor space of 140" X 70" . This tent sets up really quickly with just one guy, however, due to the size and sail-like nature of the huge thing, if it's windy out, I recommend that if you are setting it up alone, you set up part of it, enough to find a door. Then, unzip the bottom of the door and screw and ice anchor down thru the tie down in that one corner. Aim the door into the wind so if you are using a gas auger to drill your holes, you can open both doors for a fast air-out. Also, if you aim a door into the wind, that is the narrowside of the pop-up and it is less of a target for screaming winds. THEN, pop up the rest of the tent. Like all the Eskimo Quick Fish models, you set it up by reaching down inside and just pulling the grab-straps out on the sides and they pop into place like an umbrella. Anchor it completely, shovel a little snow around the flap on the outside, drill your holes inside and light your heater. Away you go. At 38 lbs, you can still pull it in a sled behind you and the ample room inside allows for some really great times out on the ice. You can almost park a Chevy S-10 pickup in this unit. It's so big that you could jig on on one end and have your tip-ups at the other end. That way, there's no need to put on your parka when you run to your tip-up as an 18 lb. laker is running with your cisco! Gosh, I can't wait for hard water!!! |
