BWO Comparadum Fly Overview

This amazing little fly has been around since the early 20th century, created by the legendary American fly tier, Fran Betters. He designed it to mimic the Blue Winged Olive mayfly, which just happens to be a trout's favorite snack. I absolutely love this fly for its high-floating, easy-to-see design that has helped me hook countless trout over the years. The Comparadum's split tail, dubbed body, and upright, bushy hackle give it a lifelike profile that really makes those fish go wild!
BWO Comparadum Imitation Design
One of the things I love about the BWO Comparadum fly is how it perfectly imitates the look and movement of the Blue Winged Olive mayfly, especially during its adult and dun stages. I've found that the fine, natural deer hair used for the wing and tail really adds that extra touch of buoyancy and visibility on the water's surface. The body of the fly is usually made with some kind of dubbing material like fine synthetic or natural fibers, giving it a realistic profile and texture.
